Engineering Development Path

The engineering development program is a two year development program designed to develop the future engineering talent at Black & Decker. We are looking for strong technical skills, hands-on capabilites and a passion for product design. The purpose is to create technical leaders in all aspects of Black & Decker product development.

The program consists of four rotating job assignments of four to six months each, plus extensive training courses and seminars.

Rotations:

User-Product Awareness Field Assignment (Swarm Team)

  • Focus on Product Knowledge and The Customer
  • Extensive Training at B&D University
  • Daily contact with end users on a wide range of power tools
  • Locations Nationwide

Manufacturing Plant:
New Product Implementation Assignment 

  • Exposure to the Manufacturing Plant Operation 
  • Learn the People and Processes 
  • Learn connection between engineering and manufacturing 
  • New Product Process 
  • Six Sigma, CAD, Product Manager

Manager Manufacturing Plant:
Resident Engineering Assignment
 

  • Engineering representative at a plant with emphasis on continual problem solving and communicating
  • Use CAD and Product Manager

Upon successful completion of the EDP experience, each graduate will be eligible for a full time position in product development.
